Geneva Cann is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in museum operations and development roles. Currently serving as the Membership and Gifts Manager at The House of the Seven Gables since June 2019, Geneva also held the position of Development Associate, providing vital support for fundraising and donor relations. Previous work includes research for the New England Historic Genealogical Society and sales associate roles at two prominent museums, where Geneva excelled in customer engagement and merchandise presentation. Holding degrees in History and Museum Studies from St. Mary's College of Maryland and Smith College, Geneva possesses strong skills in research, communication, and event management, complemented by a background in historical interpretation and social media management.

The House of the Seven Gables
An American treasure… In 1668, merchant and ship-owner John Turner built a house on Salem Harbor that was destined to become one of America’s most beloved historic homes. Designated a National Historic Landmark District in 2007, The House of the Seven Gables is best known today as the setting of world-renowned American author Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1851 novel. In 1910, Salem philanthropist Caroline Emmerton restored the house and opened it to the public as a museum, using proceeds from ticket sales specifically to fund settlement work that benefited immigrant families. Over a century later, The House of the Seven Gables Settlement Association is dedicated to continuing Emmerton’s mission of preservation and education. The House of the Seven Gables Settlement is a 501(c) 3 charitable nonprofit organization. We are supported by membership, annual donations, and visitation income.
