Merve Karakaş

Merve Karakaş is currently an Applied Scientist Intern at Amazon and a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles, focusing on communication-constrained machine learning and multi-armed bandits. Previous roles include a Coding Tutor and U.S. Ambassador for Hub21, as well as an Artificial Intelligence Engineer at Hospital on Mobile, where Merve developed AI models for disease prediction. Merve also gained research experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at multiple labs at Koç University, contributing to projects on visible light communication and autonomous vehicles. Merve holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering & Computer Science from Koç University and is pursuing a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCLA.
