Dan Farmer

Head of Consultant Support, Data School at The Information Lab

Dan Farmer is the Head of Consultant Support at Data School, The Information Lab. Dan has over fifteen years of experience in research and business intelligence strategic functions, management and provision of operational research, supporting organisational change, coordination of multi-agency data collaboration, and delivery of service community risk and operational data strategy. Prior to their current position, Dan Farmer was the Head of Research and Intelligence at Surrey Fire and Rescue Service from March 2005 to January 2017.

Before that, they worked as a Spatial Analyst for the UK Civil Service from May 2004 to October 2004. In this role, they provided spatial intelligence analysis via ArcGIS / MapInfo and network modelling to support anomaly detection. Dan also developed VBA / Java applications for self-service GIS and was a software champion/internal trainer.

From June 2003 to January 2004, Dan Farmer worked as a Technical Support Engineer for Goldman Sachs. And from January 2001 to December 2003, they were a Network Administrator for East Surrey College.

Dan Farmer began their career in September 1996 as an Outdoor Clerk for Goodhand & Forsyth where they worked until January 2000.

Dan Farmer has a Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of Nottingham. Dan is certified in DBT Fundamentals from dbt Labs, Tableau Desktop Certified Virtual Trainer from Tableau Software, and Alteryx Certified Professional from Alteryx. Dan is also certified in Tableau Desktop Certified Trainer and Tableau Desktop Certified Professional from Tableau Software, and Alteryx Advanced Certified from Alteryx.

Dan Farmer reports to Tom Brown, Founder & Managing Director. They are on a team with Sophie Sparkes - Community Manager, Jack De Courcy Robinson - Account Director, and Craig Bloodworth - CTO & Tableau Zen Master.
