Fabian Augusto Maza Arnedo is a skilled health professional with extensive experience in antimicrobial resistance solutions, project management, and clinical practice. Currently serving as a Science Officer at The International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS), Fabian has contributed to project development and implementation since July 2023. Prior roles include working as a Project Assistant at ReAct - Action on Antibiotic Resistance, where Fabian focused on monitoring national action plans and conducting literature reviews on neonatal sepsis and antimicrobial resistance. Experience as an intern at the Pan American Health Organization involved analyzing maternal death data in relation to COVID-19. With a background in clinical practice as a General Practitioner and education including a Master of Medical Science in Global Health from Uppsala University, Fabian combines research and practical skills to address public health challenges.

Imagine a world in which AMR no longer poses a threat to the health of humans and animals, the environment, global food security and economic prosperity. This is our vision at the International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions - ICARS. ICARS provides One Health intervention and implementation research support to low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in their efforts to prevent and mitigate AMR. Through our activities, we enter into partnerships with LMICs to advance the implementation of their National Action Plans (NAPs). These partnerships involve projects through which we co-develop and test new solutions for AMR mitigation, translate existing evidence into action, all while supporting capacity and capability building in LMICs. Our work also extends to advocacy for the importance of Implementation Research as a means to deliver on the NAPs.
