Steven Hill is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in international law and policy. Currently serving as Executive Secretary at The International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law since November 2022, Steven previously held significant roles such as Director for Global Criminal Justice & Multilateral Affairs at the National Security Council from April 2021 to October 2022, and Director of the Office of Legal Affairs at NATO from 2014 to 2020. Steven’s expertise includes advising on complex multinational legal requirements and strategic guidance across NATO’s legal framework. Additional roles include Counselor for Legal Affairs at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations (2011-2014), Visiting Professor of Law at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center (2010-2011), and key legal positions at ICO-EUSR and the U.S. Department of State. Steven holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from Yale Law School and a Bachelor's degree in Government from Harvard University.
