Thomas Cleveland is an experienced academic and director, currently serving as the Executive Director of the American Political Tradition Project and the Director of Academic Programs at The Jack Miller Center since August 2019. Prior to this, Cleveland was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the College of the Holy Cross, where courses included Introduction to Political Philosophy and the Origin of Law and Philosophy. Cleveland held postdoctoral fellowships at both Miami University, focusing on American Political Development and Introduction to Political Thinking, and Harvard University within the Program on Constitutional Government. Early professional experiences included roles as a Laboratory Assistant at St. John's College, specializing in atomic and quantum physics and evolutionary theory, and as an intern at the President's Council on Bioethics. Cleveland earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from Boston College and a Bachelor's degree in philosophy and the history of math and science from St. John's College.

The Jack Miller Center for Teaching America’s Founding Principles and History (JMC) is a not-for-profit, nonsectarian, nonpartisan, educational organization dedicated to reinvigorating education in America’s founding principles and history, an education vital to thoughtful and engaged citizenship. Our Work JMC conducts national and regional programs for professors, develops graduate and professional development programs for K-12 teachers, sponsors courses, events, and group activities for students, and produces an array of online resources for all educators in order to bring our history and founding principles back into the minds and hearts of young Americans.
