Dr. Ashutosh Dutta has a diverse and extensive work experience. Dr. Ashutosh currently serves as the Director of the Doctor of Engineering (DENG) program at The Johns Hopkins University, where they manage and grows the program, collaborating with industry professionals. Dr. Ashutosh is also the Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering program at Johns Hopkins University Engineering for Professionals, overseeing the program's development and execution.
Prior to their roles at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Dutta worked as the Chief 5G Strategist and Senior Scientist at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, leading research and development in areas such as 5G and mobile networks security.
Dr. Dutta also has significant involvement in the IEEE, where they hold various positions including IEEE Fellow, ComSoc BOG Member, and Chair of IEEE Future Networks and IEEE Industry Open RAN. Dr. Ashutosh serves in multiple leadership roles within ACM, including as the Chair of the ACM Baltimore Chapter.
Additionally, Dr. Dutta has taught as an Adjunct Professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, specializing in computer networks and protocols. Dr. Ashutosh has also held key positions at companies such as AT&T, NIKSUN, Telcordia Applied Research, Columbia University, and Tata Motors, where they contributed to projects related to security, mobility, and communication systems.
Dr. Ashutosh Dutta received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, India, from 1981 to 1985. Dr. Ashutosh then pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, from 1987 to 1989. Later, they obtained a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, from 2002 to 2010.
