Russell Maitland

Russell Maitland is an accomplished category director with extensive experience in the retail grocery sector. Currently serving as Category Director of Strategy, Buying & Insights at Kroger since April 2023, Russell previously held a similar position at Walmart from February 2022 to April 2023, focusing on best practices and consumer insights. Prior to Walmart, Russell was the Category Director for Fresh at Whole Foods Market, leading various teams and initiatives in fresh food categories, cost negotiations, and sustainability projects. Russell's experience also includes a tenure at Loblaw Companies Limited, where Russell championed several key programs in fresh food, along with earlier roles at Walmart and Safeway across various categories. Russell holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and a BBA from the University of Guelph.
