The Laundry Restaurant

Part Kiwi, part British and part bustling bistro. Brixton’s favourite all-day dining restaurant, bar, cafe & wine shop. A Saturday brunch & Sunday roast destination. The Laundry’s menu oozes honesty and authenticity whilst the ambience exudes swagger. Melanie Brown’s expertise as an award-winning chef and Sommelier combined with her quest to create memorable hospitality experiences led to the creation of The Laundry. Working closely with Australian Executive Chef Sami Harvey, this duo has created a character-filled venue that encapsulates Mel’s Swiss and NZ heritage with a hint of Sami’s Aussie flair. The Laundry has been inspired by and created in part to honour the Edwardian heritage of the restaurant’s building, Walton Lodge on Coldharbour Lane in Brixton. Built in the 1880s and opened in 1904 under King Edward VII’s rule, Walton Lodge served as a commercial steam press laundry until those operations ceased in 2014. This history has inspired more than just the name, it informs the ‘informal dining’ style of the all-day dining menu. The Laundry offers dining both alfresco on the terrace and indoors. As well as group dining for up to 34 people. Catering is available for events of all sizes. From intimate wine-matched dinners, to press launch canapés, shoot lunches on location, meetings, weddings and more. We adore a quirky challenge and create pop-up restaurants in vineyards, barns and private abodes.
