Jerome Thompson is an experienced educator with a diverse background in teaching and program management. Currently serving as an 8th Grade Teacher at The Learning Community Charter School since August 2021, Jerome has previously held positions such as Middle School Program Director at Breakthrough Providence, where the focus was on increasing academic opportunities for underserved students. With experience as a Special Education Teacher at Atlantis Charter School and a Financial Coaching Fellow at Capital Good Fund, Jerome has demonstrated a commitment to both education and community support. Additional roles include Athletics Director and Assistant Director of Childcare at Pawtucket Family YMCA, where Jerome engaged with community leaders and developed programs aimed at enhancing youth academic proficiency. Jerome also has a background in community organizing through Community Works Rhode Island and is educated in Political Science from Rhode Island College.

The Learning Community is a K-8 public school proving poverty is not a barrier to achievement. We serve over 450 students in our school and hundreds of other teachers and students in the schools where we work as professional development partners. This work fulfills our bold mission: At The Learning Community, we believe that literacy empowers each individual to have a voice, assume community responsibility and take social action. We expect leadership at every level. We grow teacher leaders, student leaders and community leaders.
