Citywide Director, Employment Law Unit at The Legal Aid Society

Elizabeth Saylor has extensive work experience in the legal field. Elizabeth is currently the Citywide Director of the Employment Law Unit at The Legal Aid Society, where they represent low-wage workers in various discrimination, wage and hour, wage theft, trafficking, and unemployment law cases. Prior to this, Elizabeth served as the Co-chair of the Board at A Better Balance, a non-profit organization. In their role, they managed the board and provided advice and counsel on litigation, press strategy, and internal management. Elizabeth also played a key role in bringing paid family leave, sick leave, and pregnancy accommodations to millions of workers across multiple states and cities.

Before joining A Better Balance, Elizabeth was a Partner at Emery Celli Brinckerhoff & Abady LLP. During their time there, they successfully litigated civil rights cases, including those related to sexual harassment and assault, police abuse, prisoners' rights, election law, wage and hour disputes, and employment and housing discrimination. Elizabeth also handled commercial cases and constitutional challenges to government regulations.

Elizabeth's earlier experiences include working as a Staff Attorney at The Legal Aid Society, where they represented victims of domestic violence in public benefits, family, and housing cases. Elizabeth also served as a Skadden Fellow at the same organization, focusing on issues related to public benefits for eligible immigrants.

Additionally, Elizabeth worked as a Judicial Law Clerk for The Honorable Robert D. Sack at the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Elizabeth also gained experience as a Summer Intern at Legal Momentum and as a Summer Associate at Debovoise & Plimpton LLP.

Elizabeth Saylor attended Westminster High School from 1989 to 1993. Elizabeth then pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from Amherst College from 1993 to 1997. Subsequently, they attended Harvard Law School from 1999 to 2001, where they obtained their Doctor of Law (JD) degree.
