Praneet Singh is a Senior Investment Advisor to The Lightsmith Group. Mr. Singh has over 30 years of global experience in private equity, built on a strong operational track record of leading and transforming businesses as a CEO, management consultant, and marketer. His current focus is investing in social impact and climate change, and scaling global healthcare businesses, and has worked across India, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the US.
Until recently, Mr. Singh was a partner at True North Managers (India’s leading buyout private equity firm with more than $2 billion in AUM), focusing on investing and scaling leading healthcare businesses. He also led the strategy and blueprint for True North’s impact investing fund. He continues to serve on the boards of various healthcare businesses, including India’s second-largest medical diagnostics player SRL Diagnostics.
Before this, he spent nine years at Siguler Guff and Company LP, a global private equity firm based in New York with more than $12 billion in AUM. He set up the India office to support the emerging market investing program, deploying and managing more than $400 million in private equity funds and direct investments in India/Southeast Asia. He subsequently moved to New York to help accelerate Siguler Guff’s private equity investments in healthcare globally.
From 2003-2008, he was the CEO of Piramal Healthcare’s India business, growing it three-fold and making it the third-ranked pharmaceutical company in the country. This business is now part of Abbott India. He also worked on large-scale organization change programs while at McKinsey and Company’s Delhi, Johannesburg, Santiago/Chile, and Boston offices. He started his career as a brand manager at Procter & Gamble’s India office, managing marquee brands like Old Spice, Oil of Olay, and Pantene.
Praneet completed his engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and received an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata. He recently completed the Impact Investing Program at Oxford University’s Said School of Business.
