Vp, Developer Experience And Community Success at The Linux Foundation

David Planella's work experience begins in 1994 when they worked as a Lifeguard and swimming instructor at the Olot Swimming Club (Club Natació Olot - CNO). From 2001 to 2004, they worked as a Data entry processor at Inland Revenue. David then joined Molins in 2002, where they worked as a Software Consultant and later as an Electronic Systems & Software Engineer, designing embedded high-speed controller units for cigarette-making machines. From 2004 to 2009, they worked at WEKO Weitmann & Konrad GmbH & Co. KG as a Hardware and Software Developer, designing real-time controller units for powder sprayers. In 2009, they joined Canonical Ltd. and held several roles, including Ubuntu Translations Coordinator, Ubuntu App Development Liaison, and Manager - Ubuntu Community Team. There, they led teams, designed community conferences, and built the Ubuntu app developer community. In 2018, they joined GitLab, Inc. as the Director of Community Relations, where they led the Community Relations team and achieved significant community growth and engagement. Currently, they work at The Linux Foundation as the VP of Developer Experience and Community Success, starting in 2022.

David Planella attended the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya from 1996 to 2000, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in Electronics. David then transferred to Northumbria University in 2000 and completed their final year, earning a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) degree in Communication & Electronic Engineering.
