Kate Stewart

VP, Dependable Embedded Systems at The Linux Foundation

Kate Stewart is the VP of Dependable Embedded Systems at The Linux Foundation. Kate has been working in the tech industry for over ten years and has experience with product management, release management, and process improvement.

Kate started their career at Linaro, a company that provides software development tools for the ARM architecture. Kate was the Director of Product Management and was responsible for managing releases, coordinating joint release activities, improving release processes, and mentoring managers and developers. Kate was also actively involved in the Linux community, co-founding the SPDX project and presenting at various conferences.

In 2011, Kate joined the Ubuntu Community and became a tracklead for UDS-P and UDS-Q. Kate also gave a presentation at Linux Conf Australia in 2012 on Datamining Ubuntu Packages. In 2013, they left Linaro to join The Linux Foundation.

At The Linux Foundation, Kate is responsible for leading a team of engineers that work on developing reliable embedded systems. Kate is also involved in various open source projects and is a member of the SPDX project.

Kate Stewart has a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science from the University of Manitoba.

Kate Stewart reports to Jim Zemlin, Executive Director. They work with Andy Updegrove - Legal Counsel, Dan Cauchy - Executive Director, AGL, and Clyde Seepersad - SVP & GM, Training & Certification.
