As Executive Vice President MSG Sports, President Team Business Operations, David Hopkinson leads the commercial strategy for Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. (MSG Sports)’s portfolio of assets, which includes: the New York Knicks (NBA) and New York Rangers (NHL); two development league teams – the Westchester Knicks (NBAGL) and Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL); and esports teams through Counter Logic Gaming, a North American esports organization, and Knicks Gaming, an NBA 2K League franchise.
Mr. Hopkinson works closely with the executive management team to set MSG Sports’ overall strategic vision, while driving innovation and optimizing corporate performance across the Company’s franchises. He is responsible for managing the business operations for the teams, directly overseeing core functions that include strategic planning, marketing, ticketing, and the in-game experience, as well as community and fan development.

MSG Sports features some of the most recognized teams in professional sports, including the New York Knicks (NBA) and the New York Rangers (NHL). As an original franchise of the NBA, the Knicks have a rich history that includes eight trips to the NBA Finals and two NBA Championships, as well as some of the greatest athletes to ever play the game. The Rangers hockey club is one of the “Original Six” franchises of the NHL. With four Stanley Cup Championships and 11 Stanley Cup Final appearances, the Rangers remain one of the league’s marquee teams. Both teams play their home games in New York’s Madison Square Garden – The World’s Most Famous Arena.
