John Master

John Master is the Senior Vice President & Associate General Counsel, Sales & Marketing at Madison Square Garden Entertainment. John has over 17 years of experience in the sports and entertainment industry.

Master began their career as the Executive VP & General Counsel for the Arena Football League. John was a member of the three-person Executive Management team and was responsible for providing strategic business and legal leadership on all strategic decision-making for the League. During their tenure, they led discussions with potential equity investors and merger partners, and set up transaction processes. John also created five-year strategic business plans for the League, and was involved in the development and sale of expansion teams. The expansion team sale prices more than doubled during their tenure. John also participated in the formation of strategic direction that attracted new elite partners such as ESPN, NBC, EA Sports, Discover Card, Russell Athletic, etc. In addition, they negotiated all League commercial partnerships. As Secretary of the League's Board of Directors, they authored League bylaws and oversaw corporate governance. As the authorized collective bargaining representative of the League and all teams, they negotiated and drafted the original Collective Bargaining Agreement and subsequent amendments, and administered the League’s relationship on a day-to-day basis with NFLPA.

In September 2009, Master left the Arena Football League to become a Business & Legal Consultant; General Counsel at Turnkey Sports & Entertainment. John provided legal, business development and general business consulting services.

John Master attended St. Joseph's Prep before going to Georgetown University for their undergraduate degree. John then attended Columbia Law School, where they earned their J.D.
