Cary Aspinwall

Cary Aspinwall is a seasoned journalist specializing in criminal justice reporting. Currently a Staff Writer at The Marshall Project since August 2019, Cary focuses on criminal justice issues in the Southern United States. Previously, Cary served as an Investigative Reporter at The Dallas Morning News, where coverage included criminal justice and corporate wrongdoing. In addition, Cary was the Creative Director for The Frontier, helping to launch the digital journalism outlet dedicated to in-depth reporting in Oklahoma. Prior journalism experience includes roles as a Reporter at Tulsa World and The Arizona Republic, where coverage ranged from state corrections to community issues. Cary earned a degree from Oklahoma State University.
