Andrea Aplasca is an Associate Veterinarian at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore since August 2021. Previously, Andrea served as a Veterinary Resident at The Wilds, The Ohio State University, and Columbus Zoo and Aquarium between July 2018 and July 2021. Andrea completed an Internship in Small Animal Medicine at BluePearl Veterinary Partners and gained experience as a Veterinary Research Extern at Kids Saving The Rainforest. Additional roles include volunteer work at the Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Health Center and as a Research Intern at the Association of Zoos & Aquariums Wildlife Contraception Center. Andrea began a career in veterinary medicine as a Licensed Veterinary Technician with the Allen Cays Rock Iguana Conservation Research Project. Educational qualifications include a DVM in Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, a Veterinary Residency focused on Zoo, Wildlife Conservation Medicine, and Ecosystem Health at The Ohio State University, a Master of Science in Biology from Fordham University, a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience from The Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology from Mercy University.
