James R. Waters

Jim Waters has over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. James R. (Jim) is currently the Managing Director at The Mather Group, where they focus on providing straightforward and unbiased advice to financially successful households. Prior to joining The Mather Group, Jim founded PartnersInWealth in 2000, where they served as the Founder and President. At PartnersInWealth, Jim helped clients achieve enduring financial confidence through comprehensive planning services. Before starting PartnersInWealth, Jim founded and served as President of James R. Waters, CFP Wealth Management. James R. (Jim) began their career as a Senior Associate at The AFP Group and also worked as a Civil Engineer at Petrocarbon Developments and Bechtel.

Jim Waters earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University in the years 1976 to 1980. James R. (Jim) later pursued an MBA with a concentration in Finance at the University of Houston from 1982 to 1984. Furthermore, Jim obtained their certification as a Certified Financial Planner from the CFP Board in 1987.
