Who We Are:

The MET Church is located on the Northwest side of Houston and our mission is to invite people into meaningful relationship with God and each other. We believe making disciples of Jesus happens in the context of relationship and that small group environments are where we grow spiritually in community with other believers. We also live to serve and connect our local community to hope through our community center and care ministries. You will find our Sunday morning worship to be contemporary and energetic with Bible based teaching focused on understanding and applying God’s word as truth in our lives.

About This Role:

The MET Ministry Care exists to invite young children & their parents from our church and community into meaningful relationship with God and each other. Our hope is for every child that comes through our doors to leave knowing that Jesus loves them no matter what. We aim to help them know and experience the love of Jesus Christ, to partner with and equip parents to be the primary disciples of their kids, and to grow a team of ministry leaders who are passionate about discipling children.

What You Will Do:  Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Live out the core virtues and mission of The MET to invite others into meaningful relationship with God and each other.
  • Live out the core virtues and mission of The MET to lead others to follow Jesus, and His essential methods for making disciples through meaningful relationships.
  • Lead & teach curriculum that ministers to the hearts and minds of children.
  • Actively seek solutions when there are challenges in the classroom or when a family is struggling to participate in church/ministry events due to a child’s behavior.
  • Engage children in developmental activities that are God-centered and build age-appropriate fundamentals related to teamwork, friendship, creativity, fun, kindness, self-discipline, etc.
  • Actively invite parents to serve in preschool and kids ministry events and classrooms.
  • Uphold The MET’s Standard of Care and Abuse Reporting Policy.
  • Attend any required trainings and always ensure the safety of classroom and other facilities.

Your Qualifications: Education & Experience

  • You are a fully committed follower of Jesus Christ.
  • You faithfully attend a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with The MET Church and the Statement of Faith of this school.
  • Actively involved in a discipleship small group (strongly preferred).
  • A passion for children learning about the love and greatness of God.
  • Must be highly relational and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to lead a classroom with minimal supervision and direction.

Hours and Work Environment:

This is a part-time, hourly position.  Anticipated work hours may vary and may include Thursday evenings, Sunday mornings, and/or other ministry events.  Ministry Care staff are not guaranteed a minimum number of hours per week.  A Ministry Care staff member who works both Thursday and Sundays may work up to 6 hours per week.

Light physical activity performing administrative and pastoral work in an indoor office setting and in kids’ ministry environments. Must be able to move with agility over children and objects; to get down to a child’s level either by kneeling, sitting, crouching or stooping, and pick up children if necessary.
