Dr. Karen Jennings Mathis, PhD, APRN, PMHNP-BC, currently serves as a Research Scientist at Miriam Hospital and as an Assistant Professor at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Previous roles include Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Newport Hospital and Assistant Professor at the University of Rhode Island. Dr. Mathis has also held positions as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the University of Chicago and as a Registered Nurse and Clinical Residence Counselor at McLean Hospital, along with serving as a Nurse Practitioner at Walden Behavioral Care. Dr. Mathis earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing and a Master of Science in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from Boston College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Amherst College.
