The Mountaineers
Isabel Steckel is an experienced professional with a diverse background in membership management, educational consulting, community organizing, and mentorship. Currently serving as Membership Manager at The Mountaineers since May 2021, Isabel has previously held positions there as Communications & Membership Associate and Member Services Representative. Prior experience includes working as an Educational Consultant at NRG Consulting Group, Community Organizer at Narrative 4, and Deputy Director at The Outreach Team, where Isabel contributed to a successful GOTV campaign. As a Ford Fellow at Wesleyan University, Isabel managed a team of undergraduate writing tutors and developed programs for various student populations. Early roles include Educational Programming Intern at 826 Valencia and Archival Intern at The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life. Isabel holds a degree in College of Letters and Italian Studies from Wesleyan University and has studied at the Università di Bologna and Berkeley High School.

Founded in 1906 by 151 visionaries, our members named peaks and explored waterways and built trails to uncover unique and challenging landscapes. We helped create the North Cascades Wilderness area, and passed the National Wilderness Act. With an average of 6 activities a day to help you climb, ski, hike, paddle, sail, snowshoe, scramble, and more, we invite you to join us to lose yourself in the outdoors.
