Teaching Faculty at The National Judicial College

Curtis Bell has extensive experience in the legal and judicial field, currently serving as Teaching Faculty at The National Judicial College since 2017, where curriculum development on contemporary Probate issues is a key focus. Bell holds multiple roles within the Michigan court system, including Judge of Kalamazoo County Probate Court and Chief Judge of Circuit/Probate Court, while actively participating in committees related to probate, family law, and juvenile justice. Additionally, Bell serves as Treasurer of the Southwest Michigan Probate Judge's Association and is a member of the Governor's Mental Health Diversion Council, where efforts are made to improve mental health treatment access. An adjunct professor at Western Michigan University since 2001, Bell also maintains previous leadership roles, including President of the Kalamazoo County Bar Association and the Southwest Michigan Probate Judge's Association. Educational qualifications include a Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Michigan State University.
