Matthew Sheldon has held various roles at The National Museum of the Royal Navy since 1994, including Head of Research Collections and Executive Director of Heritage. Matthew currently serves as the Interim Director General and Executive Director of Museum Operations, overseeing nearly 200 staff members in different departments. Matthew's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Leeds, a Postgraduate Diploma in Archive Administration from the Society of Archivists, and a Master of Arts in Museology/Museum Studies from the University of Leicester.
