Gillian Thomson (MCIPD, MEng) is an experienced leader in organizational transformation and human resources, currently serving as an Independent Member of the Nominations Committee for the National Trust for Scotland since May 2023. As the founder of Gillian Thomson Limited since October 2013, Gillian provides leadership, transformation, and fractional Chief People Officer support across various sectors. Gillian held the position of Head of People at Verlume from August 2023 to October 2025, where strategic alignment of people initiatives with business growth was paramount. Additionally, Gillian served as Chair of the Board of Directors for Inspire PTL until December 2023, contributing to the empowerment of individuals with learning disabilities. Prior roles include Human Resources Director and Group Talent Director at Centrica, where Gillian was instrumental in cultural transformation and talent strategy implementation, and various HR and engineering roles at RBS, Mars, and Diageo. Academically, Gillian holds a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Sciences & Engineering with Management from the University of Strathclyde and additional qualifications in human resources and mediation.
