Stuart Brooks

Director of Conservation & Policy at The National Trust for Scotland

Stuart joined the Trust in 2017, having previously been Chief Executive of the John Muir Trust and Director of Conservation at the Scottish Wildlife Trust. Stuart has over 25 years’ experience in the charity sector mainly focused on nature conservation and the environment. He has a broad range of knowledge and a specialism in peatlands. Stuart oversees the Trust’s policy work and a range of conservation specialisms including buildings care and gardens as well as leads on the Trust’s corporate strategy, risk and health and safety.

Stuart is currently Chair of the IUCN UK Peatland Programme, member of the Global Peatlands Initiative, Co-Chair of Scotland’s Landscape Alliance and a graduate of Newcastle University.
