Matt Young

Matt Young has extensive work experience in the insurance industry. Matt served as the Chief Underwriting Officer at The Norfolk & Dedham Group from March 2022 and continues to hold this role. Prior to that, they were the Chief Product Officer & Director of Specialty Lines at the same company from January 2018 to March 2022. Matt also worked as a Senior Business Consultant at The Norfolk & Dedham Group from 2017 to 2018. Before joining The Norfolk & Dedham Group, Matt Young worked at The Rockingham Group for nearly two decades. During their time there, they held the position of Vice President of Underwriting, where they provided executive leadership in the underwriting and product development areas. Matt managed personal, farm, and commercial lines of business in Virginia and Pennsylvania and also oversaw the corporate reinsurance programs. Their tenure at The Rockingham Group lasted from 1997 to 2016.

Matt Young completed their Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Economics from Wake Forest University from 1990 to 1993. Matt then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at James Madison University from 2003 to 2004. Additionally, Matt has obtained several certifications including Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) from the International Risk Management Institute, Inc., Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) from The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research, Certified Risk Managers (CRM) from The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research, and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) from The Institutes.
