Barra Bernstein

Barra Bernstein is a seasoned social worker currently serving in the Medical Model Adult Day Program at The New Jewish Home since May 2021. Responsibilities include conducting intakes, ongoing assessments, and participating in case conferences for client suitability. Previous experience includes roles as a Geriatric Care Manager providing comprehensive assessments and case management for older adults with cognitive and psychiatric challenges, and as a Geriatric/Psychiatric Case Manager at Hearthside Care Coordinators since 2011. Additional positions held include Psychotherapist at Queens Psychotherapy and Counseling Center, Social Worker at Bronx Psychiatric Center, and providing intern support at the Alzheimer's Association of New York. Earlier career roles include senior campaign management at United Way of Westchester and Putnam and program officer at NYU Langone Medical Center. Barra holds a Master of Social Work degree from Columbia University specializing in clinical social work, aging, and mental health, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Political Science, and Art History from Lehigh University.
