John O'Brien (he/him)

John O'Brien has extensive work experience, primarily in the healthcare industry. John served as Commercial Director at NHS Confederation starting from November 2019. Before that, they took a career break to travel around Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Malaysia from July 2019 to November 2019. Prior to their career break, they were Chief Operating Officer at Hart Square from April 2018 to June 2019. John also held the role of Membership Director at British Retail Consortium from August 2017 to April 2018, where their responsibilities included membership, marketing, events, sales, CRM, and business development. John worked at AXELOS Global Best Practice as Chief Content Officer from February 2017 to July 2017 and as Head of Membership from January 2016 to February 2017. Prior to that, they were Head of Relationship Management at The Law Society from August 2013 to December 2015, during which they managed member relationships and delivered the Law Society's Excellence Awards. John also gained experience as Chief Executive of the Global Law Summit from March 2014 to April 2015. Earlier in their career, they worked as Director of Operations at Foundation Trust Network from July 2011 to October 2013. John has been associated with NHS Confederation since 2002, where they held various roles including Director of Corporate Membership Services. John also worked at ACCA as Head of Member Networks from January 1996 to August 2002, where they managed membership support and engagement across different business sectors in the UK.

John O'Brien attended Dartford Grammar School from 1981 to 1988. John then pursued their higher education at the University of Exeter from 1990 to 1993, earning a BA Hons degree in Social Policy.
