Steve Balaski

Steve Balaski has over 25 years of experience in the maritime industry. Steve currently holds the position of Director of Business Development at The Northwest Seaport Alliance, where they are responsible for driving the growth of the international container business. In their role, they utilize their strong customer relationships and strategic market analysis to identify new business opportunities and develop effective sales and marketing plans. Prior to this, Steve served as the Interim Director of Business Development at the same company.

Before joining The Northwest Seaport Alliance, Steve worked at the Port of Seattle as the Manager of National Accounts, where they successfully increased the value of exports and imports through the Port's Foreign Trade Zone program. Steve also initiated and authored a case study and video to promote the benefits of the program to new users.

Steve's career also includes a role as a Senior Account Manager at APL Limited, where they achieved significant growth in volumes and revenue for a leading footwear company. Steve secured new business with the largest export customer's Europe business segment and achieved the second-largest market share for the service lane.

Earlier in their career, Steve worked at Horizon Lines as an Account Manager/Marketing Analyst. In this role, they implemented a new web-based marketing reporting system to improve market analysis productivity and streamlined reporting processes. Steve also made service and operational changes for key customers that reduced claims and increased customer satisfaction.

Steve's career began at Crowley Maritime, where they held a multifaceted role in project management, operations, and business development. Steve successfully managed a $40 million international logistics contract, secured new business in South America, and improved space utilization and labor productivity during vessel loading operations.

Throughout their career, Steve Balaski has demonstrated a strong ability to drive business growth, build strategic relationships, and deliver results.

Steve Balaski has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from the University of Washington. Steve also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Seattle University. Additionally, Steve has obtained the SCPro™ Supply Chain Management Professional - Level One certification from the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals in November 2014.
