Senior Manager, Air Quality & Sustainable Practices at The Northwest Seaport Alliance

Steve Nicholas has over 20 years of experience in sustainable practices and environmental leadership. From 2000 to 2008, they served as the Director of the Office of Sustainability & Environment for the City of Seattle. In this role, they played a crucial part in the city's efforts to promote sustainability and address environmental challenges. Steve then joined the Institute for Sustainable Communities, where they held the position of Vice President for US Programs from 2008 to 2020. In this role, they oversaw the design and implementation of various climate, energy, and environmental programs aimed at accelerating local solutions to global climate disruption. Currently, Steve is the Senior Manager of Air Quality & Sustainable Practices at The Northwest Seaport Alliance. In this position, they lead a team working on eliminating air and climate pollution at one of the largest cargo shipping gateways in the U.S.

Steve Nicholas has pursued their education at Colby College, where they studied government and economics while working towards a degree in Public Policy. Additionally, they attended the Harvard Kennedy School to specialize in energy and environmental policy, earning a Master's in Public Policy (MPP).
