Tessa van Elten is an expert in nutrition and health, currently working at Voedingscentrum since June 2019. Prior to this role, Tessa served as a junior researcher at Pallas health research and consultancy for a brief period in early 2019, and completed a doctoral research at VUmc from 2014 to 2018, focusing on the impact of preconception dietary intake and physical activity on cardiovascular health within the WOMB project. Tessa has also gained experience through an MSc internship at UMC Utrecht studying the relationship between breast milk fatty acid composition and childhood eczema and asthma, as well as conducting research for an MSc thesis at Wageningen UR on changes in dietary supplement usage following colorectal cancer diagnosis. Additional experience includes internships focused on dietary advice at Ziekenhuis Gelderse Vallei and research on undernutrition screening at St. Anna Zorggroep. Tessa holds a PhD from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and earlier degrees from Wageningen University & Research and HAN University of Applied Sciences.
