Karin Sartorius is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in various roles within the life sciences and business sectors. Currently serving as a Stiftungsrätin at Stiftung Arbeitsrappen and an Innovation Manager in the Life Sciences sector at Amt für Wirtschaft und Arbeit, Kanton Basel-Stadt, Karin also holds multiple board positions, including being a Board Member at DayOne Health 4.0 Accelerator and serving as the President and Head of Fundraising for POWHER awards, an initiative for female entrepreneurs in Basel. With a strong background in human resources and project management from their time at Roche and Simon-Kucher & Partners, Karin has demonstrated leadership as a former member of the Kanton Basel-Stadt government, where responsibilities included presidencies and committee memberships in education and health commissions. An empowering advocate for unpaid care work, Karin has led initiatives focused on family management while balancing professional commitments. Educational qualifications include a Master of Applied Sciences from the University of Basel and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University.

The Office of Economy and Labour (AWA) provides advice and support for any questions you may have about unemployment, working conditions and the economic development of our region. As a centre we are actively engaged in building up and maintaining a well-functioning labour market whilst also promoting the competitiveness of the canton’s business and economy. Alongside the management of relations with social partners, associations, other cantons and the federal government, we are furthermore committed to the social protection of the structural changes.
