Swara Patel has a diverse range of work experience. Swara is currently an Adjunct Lecturer at Hunter College, starting in 2024. Prior to that, they worked as a Research Intern at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2022. Swara also served as a One Young World Ambassador and Keynote Delegate Speaker at the Gender Equality Plenary Session in 2022. Swara was the Head Advising Fellow at Matriculate from 2022, where they previously held the role of Advising Fellow from 2020 to 2022. Swara founded and served as the President of The Period Society, a non-profit organization focused on menstrual and reproductive health in marginalized communities in India. Additionally, they have held research intern positions at the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies @ UPenn and Brigham and Women's Hospital, as well as worked as a Pharmacy Technician at RITE AID, a Health Educator at Peer Health Exchange, and an Assistant Director at the NHSMUN Commission on the Status of Women for the International Model United Nations Association (IMUNA).
Swara Patel graduated from Macaulay Honors College at The City University of New York in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies as a double major. Swara also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Hunter College during the same period. Prior to that, they received a High School Diploma from Herricks High School in 2020, where they studied General Studies. Swara's education journey began at Bombay Scottish School, where they obtained an Indian Certificate of Secondary School Examinations in Science, completing their studies in 2018. In addition to their formal education, Swara also earned certifications in "Harvard X PH557x: Lessons From Ebola: Preventing the Next Pandemic" and "Improving Global Health: Focusing on Quality and Safety" from HarvardX.
