Gemma Juma

Vice Chair at The Petchey Academy, Hackney

Gemma is the Vice Chair of the Petchey Academy Board of Governors. Appointed as Governor by the Jack Petchey Foundation 19/12/2017. Responsible for: governor training; developing a thriving and successful sixth form. Gemma sits on the Quality of Education and WellfareCommittee, and is Chair of the Pay and Performance Committee. Due for re-election: December 2021. Gemma is the Deputy Chief Executive at the Jack Petchey Foundation, a role which spans Finance, HR, IT and grant-making. She has over 20 years’ experience of policy development, service delivery, leadership and grant-making in the voluntary sector across the UK, Europe, East Africa and beyond. Gemma has a first class degree in Social Anthropology from Cambridge University and a Master’s degree in Gender and Development from the Institute of Development Studies. She is a keen amateur musician and an active Trustee and community volunteer. Gemma became a Governor in 2017.
