David H. Horowitz is an accomplished independent consultant and brand strategy director with extensive experience guiding organizations in defining their purpose and storytelling. Serving as the President of the Board of Directors for the Pierre & Tana Matisse Foundation since January 2023, Horowitz contributes to advancing arts education accessibility in New York City. Previous roles include Strategist at CBX, where client initiatives focused on brand purpose transformation and innovation, and Account Planner at JWT, leading strategic campaigns for Bloomberg and earning a nomination for the Jay Chiat Strategy Award. Horowitz holds a PhD in History from Columbia University and a BA in History from Brown University.

The Pierre & Tana Matisse Foundation
The Pierre and Tana Matisse Foundation was founded in 1995 by Maria-Gaetana (Tana) von Spreti Matisse, wife of the late art dealer and collector, Pierre Matisse. In accordance with the founder’s belief in the importance of the arts in each person’s life, the Foundation makes grants to organizations and institutions providing arts education in New York City. The Foundation awards three types of grants all designed to emphasize accessibility to art and its practices to promote identity, creativity, and cultural literacy. In 2021, the Foundation distributed 95 grants totaling $4.5 million.
