Melissa S. Johnson has over 23 years of experience in economic development and real estate. Melissa S. currently holds the position of Senior Vice President of Industrial Development at The Port. Prior to joining The Port, Melissa served as the Vice President of Real Estate Development at Al. Neyer from 2021 to 2022. Melissa S. previously worked at The Port as the Executive Vice President from 2019 to 2021 and as the Vice President of Industrial Development from 2011 to 2019. In these roles, Melissa was responsible for defining and executing industrial strategies, coordinating promotions for targeted industry clusters, and working with manufacturing companies and economic development partners to prepare sites for development. Before joining The Port, Melissa worked as the Economic Development Administrator at the City of Hamilton, Ohio from 1998 to 2010.
From 1994 to 1998, Melissa S. Johnson attended Miami University, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning and Geography.

The Port is a public, mission-driven development finance agency focused on revitalizing Hamilton County, OH, neighborhoods and legacy urban industrial sites. A port authority under Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4582, our diverse suite of programs and initiatives are structured to make significant impact to improve our region in ways that reduce poverty, improve land value and create well-paying jobs. The foundation of our work is putting real estate back to work for everyone in Hamilton County. The Port collaborates with dozens of economic development, community and corporate partners, and is governed by a board of directors appointed in equal number by the City of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.
