James Waddell serves as the Interim Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for The Presbyterian Church in Canada and operates as a consultant through James Waddell Consulting, both roles commencing in May 2023. Previously, James held the position of Chief Internal Auditor at TMX Group Limited from 2003 to May 2023, where responsibilities included providing independent, objective, risk-based assurance and consulting services to enhance governance, risk management, and internal control effectiveness. James also worked as the Director of Risk & Assurance Services at CARDdecisions from 1996 to 2003, focusing on audit/risk training and the development of risk management software. Additionally, James served as a Senior Control Consultant in Internal Audit for the Independent Order of Foresters from 1992 to 1997. James Waddell earned a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Glasgow, following education at The Glasgow Academy.
