Eric K. Martinson

EVP, Endowment & Chief Investment Officer at The Queen's Medical Center

Eric Martinson joined The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS) in 2010 as Executive Vice President, Endowment and Chief Investment Officer. He also serves as the president of Queen Emma Land Company.

As part of his role, Mr. Martinson serves as Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Management Committee of Hamamatsu/Queen’s PET Imaging Center and as a director of Diagnostic Laboratory Services (DLS) in addition to overseeing QHS’ Native Hawaiian Health Program. Previously, Mr. Martinson served as the president of Queen’s Development Corporation, board chair of Diagnostic Laboratory Services, and Interim Chief Financial Officer for QHS.

Prior to joining QHS, Mr. Martinson co-founded and was Managing Director of MN Capital Partners, an investment, asset management and consulting firm that later merged with Tradewind Capital Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hawaii-based Island Holdings, Inc. After the merger, Mr. Martinson served as Vice President and Managing Director and was responsible for the firm’s private equity investment activities. He began his career at Kamehameha Schools, where he served in numerous financial and investment capacities and later became the director of the organization’s Financial Asset Division.

Mr. Martinson has been actively involved with business, community and non-profit organizations and currently serves on the University of Hawai‘i Foundation Board of Trustees, Commonfund Capital Advisory Committee, and HarbourVest Capital Advisory Committee. From 2008 to 2013, he served on the University of Hawai‘i Board of Regents, serving as Chair from 2011 to 2013. Additionally, Mr. Martinson has served on the boards of the Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs’ Investment Advisory Committee, the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii (Chair), Aloha Council – Boy Scouts of America (Executive Committee), and the Kamehameha Schools Board of Advisors.

Mr. Martinson obtained his BBA in Finance at the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and earned his MBA degree from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
