Mike Woodcock has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Mike began their career as a News Reporter for various newspapers before transitioning to a Public Relations Executive at Scottish Enterprise. From there, they worked as a Business Writer at the Sunday Herald, covering international, UK, and Scottish business news.
In 2003, they joined Benchmark PR as an Account Director, where they managed press activities for the City of Discovery Campaign in Dundee. Mike later joined St Andrews Partnership as a Director and Golf Tourism Scotland as a Director.
In 2005, Woodcock joined St Andrews Links as the External Relations and Media Manager, where they managed public relations for the seven courses at St Andrews Links.
In 2012, they joined The R&A, first as the Media and Editorial Manager, managing press conferences and media relations for The Open Championship and other prestigious championships. Mike later became the Assistant Director of Communications, then the Head of Corporate Communications, and currently holds the role of Director of Corporate Communications.

Mike Woodcock completed their undergraduate education from 1993 to 1997 at the University of St Andrews, where they obtained an MA degree in English Literature and Scottish History. In 2014 to 2015, they pursued further education at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, earning a Diploma in Public Relations.
