Kirshen Pillay

Kirshen Pillay has extensive work experience in environmental compliance and waste management. Kirshen started their career with the Department of Agriculture and Environmental Affairs as an Environmental Officer, where they worked from July 2003 to June 2005. Kirshen then joined the Department of Environmental Affairs as a Senior Environmental Officer from July 2005 to December 2006. Kirshen then worked as an Environmental Specialist at Sasol from January 2007 to June 2008, followed by a role as an Environmental Coordinator at L'Oréal from July 2008 to April 2012. Kirshen then joined the University of the Witwatersrand as a Manager in Grounds and Waste Management from May 2012 to August 2017. Kirshen's next position was at KAUST, where they worked as a Waste Management and Environmental Compliance specialist from September 2017 to June 2021. Kirshen currently holds a role as a Compliance and Enforcement Senior Manager at Red Sea Global since June 2021 and is now an Associate Director in Environmental Compliance at the same company starting in December 2023.

Kirshen Pillay completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Environmental Science at the University of KwaZulu-Natal from 1997 to 2000. In 2001 and 2002, they pursued a BSc Hons degree in Environmental Science at the same university. In 2005, they completed a Certificate Programme in Provincial and Local Government Law at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika. Kirshen Pillay is currently pursuing a Project Management Professional certification at the Project Management Institute, which they will complete in 2023.
