Bob Welch

Columnist at The Register-Guard

Bob Welch is an accomplished author and inspirational speaker, with over three decades of experience in writing and education. Since January 1992, Bob has authored 12 books, including the Oregon Book Award-finalist "American Nightingale," which gained national attention on ABC's Good Morning America. Bob's speaking engagements, initiated in 2004, aim to inspire individuals by highlighting extraordinary stories, such as that of Frances Slanger from World War II. As a columnist for The Register-Guard since September 1999, Bob has received multiple accolades for writing excellence. Additionally, Bob served as an adjunct professor of journalism at the University of Oregon from 1993 to 2008. Earlier career stages included roles at The (Bend) Bulletin and The Journal-American, where Bob honed skills in various editorial capacities. Bob holds a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Oregon.
