The River School
Herlitte Borra has extensive experience in education and community engagement, currently serving as a Mentor at The Bowery Mission and a Teacher at The River School since 2013 and 2015, respectively. At The River School, Herlitte developed a curriculum focused on various aspects of child development, maintained student progress records, and facilitated enriching activities. Additionally, as the Price of Life Campus Coordinator at CUNY Brooklyn College since February 2013, Herlitte has organized events to raise awareness about human trafficking and collaborated with local and national organizations. Previous roles include Junior Instructor at Super Soccer Stars and Teachers Aide, where Herlitte planned age-appropriate activities for toddlers. Academically, Herlitte holds a degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Brooklyn College and an Associate's degree from Kingsborough Community College, with a concentration in Speech Pathology.

The River School
A premier educational program for children 18 months through Grade 3 in Northwest Washington, DC. The River School’s innovative educational model pairs a master’s level educator and a speech language pathologist in each classroom, and focuses on language, literacy and social development. Classroom practice emphasizes experiential and collaborative learning, using thematic curriculum to seamlessly integrate literacy, math, science, drama, music, art, physical education and yoga. The River School’s unique inclusion program is internationally acclaimed. Most students (85% or more) are children with normal hearing; each classroom includes a few children with hearing loss who use cochlear implants or hearing aids. The teaching team supports all of the children in the classroom, with every student greatly benefiting from the rich educational experience.
