The River School
Shauna Mulroy is an experienced Speech Language Pathologist currently employed at The River School since August 2016, where responsibilities include conducting speech and language evaluations, administering therapy, and developing educational lessons. Prior to this, Shauna has served as a Clinic Assistant at the University of Maryland Hearing and Speech Clinic since September 2015, assisting clients with appointments and managing billing processes. Shauna's clinical training as a Graduate Student Clinician involved developing treatment plans for various language disorders and conducting comprehensive evaluations. Shauna holds a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts in the same field from the same institution.
The River School
A premier educational program for children 18 months through Grade 3 in Northwest Washington, DC. The River School’s innovative educational model pairs a master’s level educator and a speech language pathologist in each classroom, and focuses on language, literacy and social development. Classroom practice emphasizes experiential and collaborative learning, using thematic curriculum to seamlessly integrate literacy, math, science, drama, music, art, physical education and yoga. The River School’s unique inclusion program is internationally acclaimed. Most students (85% or more) are children with normal hearing; each classroom includes a few children with hearing loss who use cochlear implants or hearing aids. The teaching team supports all of the children in the classroom, with every student greatly benefiting from the rich educational experience.
