Richard Onyango

Mr. Onyango is a Director and member of the Africa Mezzanine Finance investment team. He is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Prior to joining TRG in April 2023, Mr. Onyango was a Principal in Ethos Mezzanine Partners, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ethos Private Equity, which was acquired by TRG in April 2023.

During his 5-year tenure at Ethos, Mr. Onyango was instrumental in the origination and execution of investments in multiple sectors including FMCG, renewables and beverage sectors across East and Southern Africa. His previous experience includes roles in infrastructure development, project finance and renewable energy at EISER Infrastructure Partners, Standard Bank, Globeleq and Bear Stearns in Johannesburg, Nairobi, London and New York.

Mr. Onyango holds a BSc in Policy Analysis & Management from Cornell University and is fluent in Swahili.
