Sharon Downie has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Sharon is currently the Director of Medical Workforce at The Royal Children's Hospital since April 2022. Prior to this, they held various roles at the Victorian Department of Health from January 2019 to April 2022, including Acting Director of Health Workforce Policy and Manager of Allied Health & Medical Workforce. Sharon also worked at Alfred Health as the Allied Health Manager for Occupational Therapy Services from June 2016 to January 2019. Before that, they were the Operations Manager for Subacute Occupational Therapy Services at Eastern Health from October 2013 to June 2016. Sharon also has experience at Monash Health, where they worked as a Quality Manager for Allied Health and Ambulatory/Community Programs, Subacute Occupational Therapy & Music Therapy Manager, and Senior Clinician (Occupational Therapist) for Acute Neurosciences from 2007 to 2013.
Sharon Downie is currently an Executive Health Management PhD Candidate at Monash University. Prior to this, they earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Monash University in 2007. In 1997, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy/Therapist at La Trobe University.
