Marc Broughton

Interim Chair of Governors at The Royal School

Marc started his teaching career in Liverpool College in 1996 as teacher of English. He progressed through the pastoral ranks to become Head of Year as well as having responsibility for coaching various sports’ teams across the school.

In 2008 Marc and his wife relocated to the South East where he took up the position as teacher of English at Caterham School. Shortly after joining Caterham, Marc was appointed as Head of Year and was heavily involved in the pastoral leadership of the school. Marc progressed to hold the position of Head of Section, with responsibility for some 200+ pupils.

In 2014 Marc was appointed Deputy Head at Dunottar School in Reigate and was instrumental in transitioning the school from single-sex school to the successful co-educational establishment it is today. He continues to work at Dunottar and last year successfully lead the school through an ISI inspection for which the school was rated excellent for the quality of the pupils’ development. Marc continues to have responsibility for the pastoral welfare and safeguarding of all the pupils in the school.

In 2019 Marc completed his Masters in Educational Leadership, through the University of Buckingham and he found this an invaluable addition to his already rich educational experience. Marc is a passionate and proactive advocate of pastoral care and how it shapes individuals to be the best version of themselves.
