Sebastian Eyre

Dr. Eyre has been a company Director for seven energy companies and trade associations. He has worked in both academia and regulated utilities.

He has held senior positions in a big six energy company, a challenger supplier and electricity distribution company. During this time, he has been elected to industry panels that govern inter-company payments and transfers. This included working in France, Italy and Brussels to liberalized European Gas and Electricity markets. He is currently a Regulation Manager for Thames water.

As an academic he worked with the leading political economists of energy including Andreus Goldthou (Belfer Centre, Harvard University), George Yarrow (University of Oxford) and Stephen Littlechild (University of Cambridge). He conducted post-Doctoral research in energy economics in energy markets at the RPI Oxford supervised by George Yarrow; a PhD in Merger control (Exeter); an MBA in finance (Reading) and; an MSc Econ (LSE). He edited Edward Elgar’s highly acclaimed Critical Writings in Economics with Michael Pollitt (University of Cambridge) on Competition in Regulation and Energy Markets. His work has been used by academics at UEA, Frankfurt, Copenhagen Business School and Radboud University Belgium.
