Dr. Kurt Weingand is life scientist with executive leadership experience in healthcare product development, external relations, and research and development operations. He is an expert at building and growing business with innovation. Kurt’s specialty is developing new organizations. He’s passionate about leadership coaching and helping people and organizations excel to optimize performance and productivity.
Dr. Weingand graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine and worked in a companion animal veterinary practice before enrolling as a National Cancer Institute trainee in pathology at Colorado State University. Kurt is a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Pathology and board certified in clinical pathology. His research career began investigating coronary heart disease at Wake Forest University’s Bowman Gray School of Medicine and Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Weingand joined the Procter & Gamble Company in 1988. During his 20 year career at P&G, he worked in the Corporate Human Safety, Personal Healthcare, and Pet Care organizations in pre-clinical, clinical, and product development functions and served as the leader of External Relations on global business leadership teams. Kurt worked on the development, influencer marketing, and credentialing of several human healthcare and pet care brands including Olestra, Metamucil, Pepto-Bismol, Vicks, NyQuil, ThermaCare, Prilosec OTC, PUR, Iams, and Eukanuba. He was the global crisis team leader for P&G Pet Care in the 2007 pet food product recall due to melamine contamination. Kurt also served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Pharmacy. In 2012, he became the Senior Vice-President & Chief Science Officer of the pet segment at Central Garden & Pet and led innovation and research and development operations for pet pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, feeds, feed additives, and pesticides.
Dr. Weingand was a Professor and Associate Dean of Research and Post-Graduate Education at Midwestern University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Director of the new Institute for Healthcare Innovation in Glendale, Arizona. Kurt is currently the President and owner of SciComPro-LLC, a life sciences consulting and media production company with experience and expertise in innovation, scientific communications, professional relations, clinical research, public relations, crisis management, and media production. He was the producer and host of Health Today, a weekly talk radio program on 550 AM-WKRC in Cincinnati during 2009. Dr. Weingand has worked as a Principal Investigator in human clinical trials, a reviewing board member of clinical research with an institutional review board, and a clinical pathologist for safety assessment of new drug and biologic products.
