Sophien Kamoun is a distinguished Senior Scientist and Head at The Sainsbury Laboratory since October 2007, while also serving as a Professor of Biology at the University of East Anglia since June 2012. Previously, Sophien Kamoun held the position of Professor at Ohio State University from February 1998 to September 2007 and worked as a Senior Research Scientist at Wageningen University from October 1993 to January 1998. Sophien Kamoun's academic journey began at UC Davis in the Plant Pathology Department from 1987 to 1993 as a graduate student and postdoc. Sophien Kamoun earned a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of California, Davis, between 1987 and 1991 and a Maitrise in Cell Biology and Genetics from Pierre and Marie Curie University from 1983 to 1987.
